Fancy brewing your own Neck Oil-style Session IPA? Our EE-BY-ECK OIL All Grain Recipe Kit is our Northern take on one of the UK's best-known modern session IPAs.

Inspired by Beavertown Neck Oil, this 23 litre all grain beer kit is designed to produce a light, crisp and seriously drinkable Session IPA, with plenty of citrus and tropical fruit character from a generous combination of modern American and Australian hops.

It's the sort of beer that doesn't mess about. Crack one open, put your feet up and let the beer do the talking.

A Northern take on a modern classic and it's reet good.

Neck Oil is known for its refreshing character, relatively lower ABV and big hop flavour. We've taken that inspiration and give it some Northern homebrew respect.

Our EE-BY-ECK OIL recipe uses a light malt base of Extra Pale Ale Malt and Dextrin Malt, giving the hops a clean platform while adding enough body and balance to support the finished beer.

The hop bill brings together Centennial, Columbus, Simcoe, Mosaic, Amarillo and Vic Secret, giving the beer a combination of citrus, tropical fruit and resinous hop character.

The result?

A 4.3% Session IPA that's refreshing enough for a sunny afternoon, but packed with enough hop flavour to keep the IPA fans happy.

Basically, it's a proper session beer.

The hop additions are designed to build bitterness and flavour during the boil before finishing with a three-day dry hop to maximise fresh hop aroma.

All grains are supplied pre-crushed and ready to brew, so you can get straight on with the important bit – making beer.

Brew your own Session IPA at home

If you've enjoyed Neck Oil and fancied having a go at brewing something similar yourself, this is a great place to start.

It's also a cracking choice for home brewers who enjoy modern American-style and New World IPAs, but don't necessarily want a huge 6–7% beer.

At 4.3% ABV, this is all about balance, drinkability and hop character.
