Krush T90 Hop Pellets – US Hops
Krush T90 hop pellets are one of the newest American hop varieties to hit the brewing world, delivering a seriously expressive combination of orange, mango, guava, peach, mixed berry and tropical fruit.
When I've been asked to describe the aroma or taste of Krush in a beer, I always give this answer. For me it doesn't have one dominant flavour or aroma; imagine getting your favourite sweets like skittles, popping a handful in your mouth and chewing them together. That is Krush in a nutshell, or should that be fruitbowl!
We've developed and tested our own all grain kit with Krush as a single hop. It's an exellent American Pale ale where the the malt and that sumptuous mixed fruit flavour come together beautifully. Krush All Grain Kit.
Also known as HBC 586, Krush was developed by the Hop Breeding Company and officially released as a commercial hop variety in 2024, following a 17-year development programme. It has quickly attracted attention from brewers looking for something different from the usual American hop varieties.
Krush is particularly well suited to IPA, Pale Ale, NEIPA, Hazy IPA, Double IPA and other modern hop-forward beers, where its intense fruit character can really shine.
If you love hops that bring juicy orange, mango, guava, peach and berry character to your beer, Krush is a hop worth trying.
Krush Hop Flavour & Aroma
Krush has an incredibly broad fruit profile, combining citrus, tropical fruit, stone fruit and berry character.
Depending on how you use it, you can expect a combination of:
- Orange and citrus
- Mango
- Guava
- Peach and stone fruit
- Tropical fruit
- Mixed berries
- Subtle woody notes
The combination of orange, mango, guava and peach gives Krush a particularly juicy character, while the berry notes add another layer of complexity.
Yakima Chief describes Krush as a highly impactful and versatile hop, with sensory characteristics covering citrus, stone fruit, tropical, woody and berry.
Used generously in late additions, whirlpool hopping or dry hopping, Krush can produce the kind of big, fruit-forward character modern IPA and NEIPA drinkers are looking for.
How to Use Krush T90 Hop Pellets
Krush T90 pellets are a versatile hop that can be used for bittering, flavour and aroma.
However, if you want to make the most of Krush's complex fruit character, later additions are particularly effective.
Late Kettle Additions
Late kettle additions of Krush can provide flavour, aroma and bitterness.
Adding Krush during the final 5–15 minutes of the boil can bring out its orange, mango, peach and tropical fruit character while contributing useful bitterness to the finished beer.
For a modern American Pale Ale, a small late-kettle addition followed by a larger whirlpool addition can give you a good balance between bitterness and hop flavour.
Whirlpool / Hop Stand
Adding Krush to the whirlpool or hop stand is an excellent way of extracting its citrus, tropical fruit and stone-fruit character while keeping the bitterness contribution relatively controlled.
A generous whirlpool addition can produce flavours of orange, mango, guava and peach, making it particularly effective in Pale Ales, IPAs and NEIPAs.
This is a great way to showcase Krush without relying entirely on dry hopping.
Dry Hopping
Krush is an excellent dry-hopping hop, and this is where its broad fruit character can really come alive.
Adding Krush T90 pellets during or after fermentation can produce intense aromas of orange, mango, guava, peach and mixed berries, giving the beer a juicy and highly aromatic character.
Try Krush on its own for a single-hop Krush Pale Ale or IPA, or combine it with other modern varieties to build a more complex hop profile.
Krush works particularly well alongside Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe, Idaho 7 and Nectaron, allowing you to layer its fruit character with citrus, tropical and stone-fruit flavours.

Brewing with Krush Hops
Krush is one of those hops that can take a beer in several different directions depending on how you use it.
Want to brew a single-hop Krush Pale Ale? Absolutely.
Want a juicy Krush NEIPA packed with tropical fruit and stone fruit? That's where this hop really comes into its own.
Want to build a modern IPA using several varieties? Krush can add a broad fruit character that works particularly well alongside other high-impact hops.
For maximum aroma, try using Krush in the whirlpool and dry hop, allowing the orange, mango, guava and peach character to remain at the centre of the beer.
Krush also works particularly well with Citra and Mosaic, adding stone fruit and berry character to their familiar citrus and tropical profiles.
For something more unusual, combine Krush with Nectaron. The combination of orange, mango and peach from Krush with Nectaron's pineapple and passionfruit can create a seriously fruit-forward beer.

Excellent quality, really powerful aroma!
Hi Sean thanks for taking the time to add a review. I've been using Krush a lot over the last 12 months and it really offer something a little bit different both flavour and aroma. I've found it works really well in an american pale ale.
Happy Brewing.
