Gan Yam means Going Home in the Cumbrian dialect. The brewery was founded on friendship, a love of home brewing and 7 friends returning from London to their hometown of Kendal. Gan Yam produce outstanding quality beers and have a real focus on the community of Kendal. They support charities, the arts and are central to bringing their local community together. They run a hiking club; what a combination - hiking in Cumbria and great beer! Gan Yam host various events, even supporting a bi-monthly fermentation club where the focus isn't just beer, but all things fermented.

Recipe Method
TAR has a sizeable grain bill please make sure your brewing equipment is capable of holding the capacity.
Batch size: 23L
Original gravity: 1.073
Final Gravity: 1.021
Mash Time: 60 minutes, 69℃
Mash out: 10 minutes, 75℃
Fermentables
- Crisp Maris Otter Malt
- Weyermanns Munich Malt
- Crisp Rolled Oats
- Crisp Wheat Malt
- Crisp Roasted Barley
- Weyermanns Melanoidin Malt
- Crisp Black Malt
- Crisp Chocolate (Coffee) Malt
- Crisp Light Crystal 150 Malt
- Crisp Lager Malt
I would recommend an addition of rice hulls to this recipe. The use of wheat malt could cause a stuck mash or sparge The addition of the rice hulls will greatly reduce the chances as the wort can filter through the mash bed better.
Boil time: 60 minutes
Kettle additions
- Magnum, 60 minutes
- Protafloc 15 minutes
- Simcoe 10 minutes
Yeast
- Gan Yam House yeast
Fermentation
20℃ for 14 days or until fermentation is complete
