Admiral T90 Hop Pellets British Hops
Admiral is a British high-alpha hop developed at Wye College in Kent and released commercially in the 1990s. Bred from Challenger and Northdown breeding lines, it was developed to provide an efficient bittering hop that could complement the established Target variety.
Although primarily recognised for its bittering capabilities, Admiral has more to offer than simply adding IBUs. Its distinctive character includes orange citrus, resinous pine and herbal notes, making it a useful dual-purpose hop for brewers who want a little more flavour from their kettle additions.
Admiral is particularly well suited to traditional British Bitters, Strong Ales and English IPAs, where its firm bitterness provides a good foundation for more aromatic varieties. It can also find a home in West Coast IPAs, especially when paired with hops that complement its citrus and resinous qualities.

Hop Pairings
Admiral works particularly well alongside East Kent Goldings in traditional British ales. Its firm bitterness and subtle citrus character provide a good foundation for the floral, earthy and gently spicy qualities of Goldings.
For a more robust British combination, try pairing Admiral with Challenger. Given their shared breeding history, the two make an interesting pairing for English IPAs and stronger bitters, bringing together citrus, spice and traditional British hop character.
For a bolder, more resinous approach, try pairing Admiral with Apollo in a West Coast IPA. Admiral's orange citrus character complements Apollo's grapefruit, lime and pine, creating an assertive hop combination with plenty of bitterness and depth.
Admiral is also worth exploring as a single-hop beer, particularly if you're interested in discovering how a traditional British bittering hop performs when used later in the brewing process.
