This is our Norwegian Summer Blonde — light, refreshing and seriously easy drinking, with a little Norwegian farmhouse brewing heritage and a healthy dose of New Zealand hop character.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eThe Star of the Show – Stalljen\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe're using Kveik Yeastery Stalljen, a fantastic Norwegian kveik culture originating from Hornindal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStalljen is a fascinating yeast. Kveik is often associated with fermenting at remarkably high temperatures, but here we're doing things a little differently. Fermented at around 18°C, Stalljen produces a much cleaner and more restrained character, giving us the perfect base for a light, crisp blonde beer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt's a great example of just how versatile kveik can be.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnd if you've never brewed with Stalljen before, this is a pretty good place to start.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eMalt\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe malt bill is deliberately simple, keeping the beer light and letting the yeast and hops take centre stage.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eBohemian Pilsner Malt\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eVienna Malt\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eCarapils\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Pilsner malt provides the light, clean base, Vienna adds a touch of extra malt depth, while Carapils helps give the beer a smooth mouthfeel and good head retention.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAll grains are supplied \u003cstrong\u003epre-crushed and ready for brewing\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eHops\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eRiwaka\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eHallertau Mittelfrüh\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRiwaka is one of New Zealand's most distinctive hops, bringing bright citrus, fresh tropical fruit and plenty of character to the finished beer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe've paired it with Hallertau Hallertau Mittelfrüh, adding a subtle floral and lightly spicy note underneath the modern hop character.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe result is a lovely combination of old-world lager-style hop character and new-world fruitiness.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eYeast\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eKveik Yeastery \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/grainoversands.co.uk\/products\/kveik-yeastery-stalljen?_pos=1\u0026amp;_psq=stalljen\u0026amp;_psid=06e8662ec\u0026amp;_ss=e\" title=\"Kveik Yeastery Stalljen\"\u003eStalljen\u003c\/a\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is where the beer gets really interesting.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStalljen is a Norwegian multi-strain kveik culture with a huge fermentation range. We're using it at the cooler end of that range, around 18°C, to produce a clean fermentation while still allowing the character of the yeast to complement the hops.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you've been curious about kveik but don't fancy fermenting your beer at 30°C+, this is a great demonstration of what these remarkable Norwegian yeasts can do.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eWhat to Expect\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eExpect a pale, crisp and refreshing blonde ale with a clean malt character, subtle floral notes and a bright burst of citrus and tropical fruit from the Riwaka.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt's light enough for a sunny afternoon, but there's enough going on to make you reach for another glass.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnd that's really what we wanted from this beer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSimple.
